babi flu give us all pimples

ahhhh... another case of FLU is hitting the streets.

the last time when SARS happened, i was still in secondary school having fun. quarantined? no problem! it means loads of free time away from school, no need to study.

and now? as a health care worker, everyone is preparing for what seems to be the inevitable - the second coming of the FLU.

its nerve-wrecking. its exciting. everyday we come to work, wondering what would happen.

Code Orange (which is now) - masks for everyone, only one visitor allowed each time for ONE patient. visitors to wear masks at all times and can only come during the visiting hours. temperature taking twice a day for the staff, anyone sick to go to the staff clinic. no travelling. and the most important and most painful thing - NO ANNUAL LEAVE. all staff to come back in preparedness. ( i am personally very affected by this.)

massive discharge for all plastic patients who are fit to go home. all elective operations cancelled (would you like swine flu with the double eyelids as well??) and the prepare rooms in case we need to transfer patients to our A class rooms (can be doubled up as isolation rooms)

everyday, we would remind ourselves what to do in the event that something happens. everyday, we go to work with anticipation.
everyday we wait.

in the event of confirmed cases we would be going to code RED.

which means i get to try

- to wear scrub suit with the full PPE (personal protective equipment)
-free food (staff not allowed to buy food outside, all foodcourts will be closed)
-being deployed to other wards in case they need staff
-bathing everyday before going back from work
-catching the swine flu.

"the anticipation of death is worse than death itself" so true.

anyways, was off to swissotel to try the buffet there (financial crisis? what crisis?) and man........ im quite impressed by the standard of food there. the best food there? gotta be the durian vomit. (its just a name i came up with.) rich, creamy and oh so gooooood.

and its true what lendl said - if you come here and you don't eat the durian thingie, you might as well go somewhere else to eat.

next stop - Shangri-la!!!! i heard its even better!!! so is the price!! (money problems? what problems?)

ahh, days off are to chillax.

finally after 21years, i own my first pair of levi's jeans (someone told me it could last for ten years. lets see. )
